Police are too short-staffed to stop the surge of stabbings in London, and looked other way when kids were raped, because they have supposedly more important things to do like arrest someone’s grandma as a “hate criminal” – all she did was beep her car horn at a driver who was “taking ages” at a petrol station.
Anthony Stansfeld, the commissioner for Thames Valley said, “She was taking ages fiddling around and the lady who was driving, who was in her seventies, peeped on the horn and out flew an Afro-Caribbean lady who screamed abuse at them, went into the kiosk and reported it as a hate crime.”
So, the police think it’s ok to “scream abuse” at old ladies? Charming! There’s nothing to suggest the old lady was racist, or even knew who was in the car – she just gave her car horn a little toot because she wanted to get out the petrol station. Supposedly this is the crime of the century!
After the driver reported this “hate crime”, police cross-examined the poor old dear under caution. Stansfield claims they were forced to do so by hate crime laws.
The police commissioner described the elderly woman as a “pillar of society” and called for a review of current rules after the woman had to be questioned on suspicion of a hate crime.
“We had to investigate it. [The elderly lady] was questioned under caution. And this woman was a pillar of society. She was hugely upset.”
He said that current laws mean detectives have to investigate anything that is “perceived” to be a hate crime, which could result in “huge injustices”. Well, that is not true – from personal experience, I know that the police do not investigate every incident – in fact, it seems that they only investigate if the person making a complaint is of a certain religious or racial background.
The elderly woman wrote to Stansfield: “She asked us to remove it but the law is such that once it’s on the books we cannot do so.”
Last month, official figures revealed hate crimes had soared over the past year, but it only takes into account those reported to police. Meanwhile, London has had 5 stabbings in 6 days. If the police won’t get their priorities in order, all their funding from the taxpayer should be removed.
