Antifa or Anti-Fascist is a group that has no figurehead or official governing body, but members — some of whom turn to radical or militant tactics to make their views known — generally oppose the inequality of wealth by corporations and discrimination against marginalized communities.
They often wear black, have bandanas with obscure faces while intimidating, harassing and attacking right-wingers and whomever disagrees with them. Antifa has been identified by U.S. Agencies as a terrorism organization, the group has been attacking conservatives in many events trying to shut it down throughout the United States.
Last right-wing Rally in Providence, Rhode Island Antifa not only harassed conservatives and libertarians but threw paintings, feces and urine on them because of their different view.
Most recent Antifa vandalism and attack took place in New York City at the Metropolitan Republican Club in Upper East Side, Manhattan.
A brick was thrown in the club’s window and anarchy symbols scrawled on its front door and a note was left which said “Tonight we put the Republican Party on notice, in defiance to the policy of mass misery they have championed. The U.S. government has established concentration camps around the country for Latino, people shamelessly murders black people, and continues its war machine that has slaughtered Muslim people with impunity for decades”.
According to the Metropolitan Republican Club two men vandalized the club before the night of Gavin Mcinnes’ speech at the Club. The NYPD is still investigating the vandalism.
On October 12th, 2018 after Mcinnes’ speech, commotion surrounded the Metropolitan Republican Club. Attendees were stuck inside of club until the NYPD organized the exit as Antifa members stood outside the club. Members of the Proud Boys, a male fraternity right-wing group, attended the event.
Antifa’s primary focus was to attack Proud Boys members, therefore, NYPD had to escort the members separately from the other attendees. As the Proud Boys exited the club, a 36 second fight occurred after an Antifa member threw a bottle at one of the Proud Boys, the NYPD appeared in the scene but when officers approached the Antifa members who were in the fight one of the individuals screamed to the officer “Fuck off.”
Nobody was injured, there was no victim and no police report was filed. One of the attendees was harassed by Antifa who followed people inside of the NYC subway.
However, the news became viral after New York’s Governor decided to take Antifa’s side and blame the right-wing group Proud Boys for the fight. Governor Cuomo made a statement requesting the Proud Boys to be prosecuted as midterm term elections approaches on November 6th. Cuomo was not sympathetic about the vandalism Antifa caused to the Metropolitan Republican Club, but instead, Cuomo threw fire and blame on Republicans and President Donald Trump for the violence.
Meanwhile, a new bill was introduced by Republican New York Congressman Don Donovan. The title of the bill — “Unmasking Antifa Act of 2018 –the bill doesn’t mention Antifa but it will prevent any activist wearing a mask and the punishment will be up to 15 years in prison. If the bill [HR 6054] passes, will it be the end of Antifa in the United States?
